Brett earned his degree in Finance and Economics from the University of Waikato, New Zealand, before embarking on a career in investment banking in London.
In 2001, he relocated to Hong Kong, where he continued in banking while deepening his interest in emerging trade technologies. He later became COO of a wagering hedge fund with an annual turnover exceeding HKD 1 billion and a team of more than 300, a position he held until his return to New Zealand in 2009.
After returning to New Zealand Brett founded Selkie Limited, where he continues to leverage artificial intelligence technologies and predictive statistical models to identify and exploit inefficiencies in niche markets.
